MACHINE

Basic types of machines (power supply), waterproof, shockproof

The type of drive determines how the machine obtains the energy for its operation.

MECHANICAL WINDING MACHINES - manually wound, the watch is regularly wound by hand. A normal watch will last one to two days, the best quality ones up to two weeks.

AUTOMATIC - automatic self-winding watches do not need to be manually wound. These movements are powered by normal hand movements. The winding reserve (the endurance of the watch) is normally around two days. If we know that we will not provide the watch with sufficient movement, we can wind it manually, get a winding machine or choose another type of movement.

QUARTZ - the battery supplies the movement with power.

KINETIC MOTION - the system automatically generates the necessary energy by using the movement of the human hand. Part of the energy produced is used to drive the machine, part is stored in an integrated capacitor. The watch will not stop even if the owner puts it away for a few days. If the rest period is longer, the movement of the hands stops, but the stored energy is sufficient to restore the watch to running with just a few movements.

ECO-DRIVE - converts sunlight or artificial light into clean energy. Running reserve of up to 500 days, the quartz movement is powered by a mini battery as needed. No more changing batteries.

SOLAR POWER - battery-powered, solar-powered movement. Solar panels built under the dial supplement the energy for the embedded high-capacity capacitor.

SMARTWATCH - devices with their own operating system, which take the form of a wristwatch and allow the use of many functions in addition to telling the time. They function similarly to smartphones and their functions complement or even partially replace them.

General instructions

  • Do not leave the watch in extremely hot or cold conditions.
  • The watch can withstand shocks (e.g. during sports), but avoid dropping it on a hard surface (floor, etc.).
  • Do not expose the watch to strong magnetic fields.
  • Keep the watch clean. Remove dirt with a soft cloth. Clean the metal strap with a brush in a soapy solution, the plastic or rubber strap with solvent-free water and the leather strap with a dry cloth on the surface and a cloth soaked in alcohol underneath.

What to look out for in a waterproof watch

  • High temperature differences reduce the water resistance of a watch, for example when moving from sunlight to cold water.
  • The crown of the watch must not be raised when swimming. Always check it before entering the water.
  • Do not manipulate the buttons or the crown of the watch underwater.
  • After swimming in salt or chlorinated water, rinse the watch with clean water and dry it.
  • Do not change the battery yourself - always have a professional change it.
  • If water or steam gets into your watch, take it to a repair shop as soon as possible.
